Embroidery machines cannot recognize modern exFAT or NTFS filesystems. Use a standard USB 2.0 drive (8GB–16GB recommended) and format it as FAT32 with Master Boot Record (MBR).
Janome machines require the file to reside inside an EMBF or EMBF/MyDesign folder. Placing files in the root directory will trigger an "Unsupported File" screen error.
Always safely unmount or eject the USB stick from your operating system before unplugging. Premature disconnection corrupts embroidery jump tables.
